The Bower’s Harbor Inn in Traverse City was constructed as a private home that was known as the Stickney Summer House. Although it now operates as a restaurant, the building itself is said to be haunted by a ghost that goes by the name Genevive. Genevive’s husband was owner JW Stickney, who had an elevator installed at the Inn for his wife who was overweight. He also hired a nurse to help care for her but Genevive ended up having an affair with this caretaker. When Stickney passed, he left all his financial wealth to the nurse, leaving only the Inn to Genevive. Eventually, Genevive hung herself in the elevator and is known to linger around the property to this day. She likes to make herself known by slamming doors, turning lights on or off, and making pans fall. Rumor has it that she also take kindly to nurses who visit the restaurant.
