Seul Choix Point Lighthouse
Gulliver, MI 49840
The Seul Choix Pointe Lighthouse in Gulliver used to be cared for by a man named Joseph Townsend. The lighthouse had been dubbed as the only choice for a stopping point on route to Lake Michigan by French fur traders. The lighthouse keeper's brother James was a wealthy captain and would make the journey to visit Joseph. During one of his visits, James fell ill and died in the lighthouse. His body was embalmed and held in the basement for weeks as the family waited for people paying their respects to make the journey to Gulliver. Witnesses have reported a lingering smell, footsteps that have been heard up and down the lighthouse steps, and strange noises that keep visitors from entering the lighthouse.
