It was 1890 and William Mosteller had big dreams of establishing a town in the middle of the growing state of Michigan. He hoped to attract people by building a sawmill on his property, but the town seemed doomed from the start. Big city people don’t feel safe in the country.
Months later, William’s business partner found him in his bedroom with a gunshot to the head. He was buried behind the pond where forest creatures run free and the trees sway in the wind.
With no next of kin, the state finally allowed the land to be purchased in 1930 by a man from Dayton, Ohio. The locals were curious about the mysterious men constantly racing down the dirt road in their fleet of snazzy Cadillacs. Cinder block buildings were built around William’s pond by these burly men with their shirt sleeves rolled up, wearing their signature fedoras. A huge iron gate and blockade walls were installed to surround the property, keeping prying neighbors away.
Everyone believed that the mafia had moved into town. Hearing continual gunfire in the evenings, people were convinced that these men were murdering kidnapped victims. The pond was definitely full of dead bodies. A distillery must be hidden in the woods. Millions of dollars were buried around William’s grave. No one knew the truth. The rumors grew.
The local police kept an eye on the place, but not so close.
The mystery remained for decades. As we recently unraveled the past, hidden remnants from horrifying crimes of old were revealed. Roughly created escape tunnels between the buildings were discovered. Will we ever truly know the crimes committed here?
Beware as you travel through these woods. When darkness falls, what once was buried is no longer hidden. The undead have been released and won’t be contained. Screams fill the air as nightmarish endings are being reborn.
The tortured will not rest until they get revenge. Watch your back. They want you dead.
It all begins Fall 2025!

We were out and about during the day taking a ride, and happened to see the signs... followed...pulled in and met the owner, who was super fantastic and beyond nice! Told us about the place and told us to come back when it opened at 8:00. It was absolutely, hands down the most Halloween fun 🎃 I've had in a long time!!! Very well thought out, and has the "scare factor!" Not to mention the Staff/employees were incredibly polite, and extremely friendly!

WOW!!! We Took a Chance on This New CREEPY Trail!!
My husband and I love everything about fall — haunted houses, haunted trails, all of it. Since we bought property up north, we decided to check out the Mafia Haunted Trail, and wow… we were not disappointed! We usually stick to places downstate, but this one totally surprised us, especially for being its first year and it’s already one of our favorites! The scares were timed perfectly — you’re walking through the dark woods, you start to relax, and then BAM, they get you again. The dark woodsy setting makes it super creepy in the best way. Just a heads-up: it’s a real trail, not paved, so wear decent shoes. The staff was awesome, and like most haunted trails, no one touches you — it’s all just good, spooky fun. We had a blast and can’t wait to go back next year! At the end of our haunt, we even got the chance to meet the owner, Charles, and his brother. It was fascinating to hear how their story began, their love for the community, and how they successfully engineered many of the props.
