Welcome to Past Tense After Dark, Lapeer's PREMIER haunted destination. We feature 3 heart pounding haunted attractions, The Hayride of Despair, The Corn Maze of Fear and the House of Horrors. Can you survive all 3? Before, after or while you wait, you can enjoy donuts, ice cream, and snacks at our warm Cider Mill Restaurant on site. (full menu stops at 9pm)
House of Horrors
Your heart pounding, your nightmares come alive and your worst fears become reality! You can’t see what’s next... your eyes betray you, and you suddenly smell the blood and sweat as you cower from the blood curdling screams and terrifying sights…and your senses overload. You can’t run, you can’t hide and you better hope your friends are still behind you. It started over a half century ago, an unspeakable evil took place on Farnsworth Road in Lapeer. The horrors of that evil night were locked away and kept silent. UNTIL NOW! The Farnsworth Hotel is open for blood curdling night stays. You can check out – but you may never escape the terrors that make Past Tense After Dark the most terrifying place you’ll ever want to come back to... again and again. If you survive – Past tense cider & donuts await you at the cider mill next door.
The Corn Maze of Fear
A pleasant field of corn… becomes dangerously unnerving At Past Tense’s AFTER Dark haunted Corn Maze of Fear! What starts out as a fun hike through the corn field, quickly becomes... darker, different, dangerous. Turning, winding, dead-ends and endless loops will confuse, frighten and you. Shadows move, and the silence is broken by the rustling of corn stalks as unknown creatures lurk, waiting for their next victim... Screams ring out as you twist your way through this endless maze cut through the dead, unharvested stalks of corn. Your breath becomes shallow and labored as you move more quickly trying another path…or is it the same one you tried last time? As your pace quickens and your pulse rises… you are tempted to reach for your friends hand... Whatever you do, don’t go it alone! The thoughts that cross your mind here are NOT helping… will you make it out tonight? Will you make it out alive? Do you dare to enter the Corn maze of Fear at Past Tense After Dark?
The Hayride of Despair
After Dark... Things change... After Dark… they take on a more sinister hue... A simple hayride in the country becomes…unsettling, scary. As you wind through the Lapeer countryside in the crisp autumn air, the horrifying reality of events that took place years ago begin to unveil themselves. Every turn reveals horrifying evil, every bump quickens your pulse. The night is alive with sounds, smells and the eerie feeling you can’t escape… that you are NOT safe… you are NOT alone… How far is it to run? Creatures lurk around each corner, howling, screaming, and trying to get you OFF this ride... ONLY invite the friends you trust … this will be the most terrifying fall night you’ll remember…if you survive! Not for children or the faint of heart! The Scare of your life awaits at Past Tense After Dark!

We have gone a couple of times and never disappoints. All the attractions are great! I love they still have the store open to get cider and donuts. Their cider slushies are amazing!!

I was skeptical that this attraction was going to be good bc it was so cheap. We drove over an hour, arrived around 7:30 and it was well worth it! We purchase the $30 wristband for all 3 events . The haunted house was horrific, perfect amount of scares. Corn maze was awesome. We didn’t get on the hayride bc the line was too long and there is only one tractor. You will easily wait over 2 hours per event so get there early.

All three attractions are great! Scary and fun! The staff was very nice! If you go look for Gary the scarecrow he’s awesome! Would definitely go again! The price for all three attractions is very affordable.

Hands down the best haunted house in MI! It had scare inducing interiors, props, and special effects that had freaked us out. We lost our way few times and each time, we were scared out of our wits by some scare character. Absolutely loved it! Totally worth it.

Great haunt with the right amount of scares, scary sets and great fun moments to remember. The haunted house was small, but they had utilized the space effectively.

Freakin amazing. It was a bang on full of unexpected surprises and décor was tremendous replicating the true idea of a century old haunted house. Lots of fun for small children as well as adults! Suggest going with a group of people.

One of the best haunted houses I have been to. The house of horror was creepy awesome. My wife jumped and screamed few times. It had the perfect scare level I felt. The corn maze was pretty disorienting. Not too pricey given the scare experience offered. I would certainly recommend this to everyone.

Yeah, it's good. The maze and house were interesting but the hayride lags behind in fun. The house was well planned with every possible haunting feature attached. The performers do their job very well. Apart from the haunting attractions, the place houses gift shops and food stalls, it adds to the richness of the place. Great place if you're looking a great outing. The house will scare you the most. I met some people who were actually visiting the second time and they approved of the changes and a totally different experience.

My daughter and her friend had a great time. The girls liked the hayride. The maze was confusing and would drive you crazy. The haunted house had some decent scares and fun moments to remember. Actors all did a great job. Definitely, recommend this place.
