The lighthouse was built in 1876 and is haunted by its first keeper, Captain William Robinson. Robinson, his wife, and 11 children lived here for 47 years before Robinson died in his sleep at age 87. Sounds of Robinson's spirit walking with his cane have been heard. The place has also been tidied up on numerous occasions that go unexplained except for the belief that it was the doing of the apparition of the wife.
